Short description of your place and practices

După Gard Permaculture, located in the heart of Transylvania, Romania, is a regenerative project that blends permaculture, agroecology, and traditional land stewardship. Founded in 2015 in the mountain village of Poșaga de Jos, the initiative transforms a rural landscape into a living classroom for sustainable agriculture and ecological design. Through its forest gardens, syntropic agroforestry systems, and water management practices, După Gard demonstrates how food production can coexist with biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage. The project also preserves traditional Transylvanian farming wisdom while integrating modern ecological techniques, creating a model of resilience rooted in both innovation and ancestral knowledge.

Beyond being a farm, După Gard is a community hub and educational space. It hosts workshops, volunteering programs, and courses on topics such as regenerative design, soil restoration, and agroforestry. Visitors and participants engage in hands-on learning that connects ecological principles to daily life, fostering awareness about the interdependence between humans and ecosystems. By promoting self-sufficiency, collaboration, and ecological literacy, După Gard Permaculture stands as a beacon of agroecological transformation in the Carpathian Mountains — a place where sustainable living is not just taught, but practiced and celebrated.
