Descripción resumida de la práctica agroecológica

The Raízes e Frutos Extension Project, developed by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, provides hands-on experiences within traditional Caiçara communities in the Juatinga Peninsula, Paraty, RJ. The project aims to safeguard and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of the local Caiçara community while promoting the conservation of the resilient Atlantic Forest in the region.

Focusing on agroecology and permaculture, the initiative supports the design, implementation, and management of Agroforestry Systems, as well as bioconstruction techniques such as wattle and daub structures and the use of natural dyes. Additionally, it emphasizes differentiated rural education tailored to traditional communities, ensuring that Caiçara cultural practices and memories remain vibrant and alive. This holistic approach integrates environmental stewardship with the celebration and preservation of local traditions, creating a sustainable future rooted in ancestral knowledge.
