Cloughjordan Community Farm

Descripción resumida

At Cloughjordan Community Farm, we embrace agroecological practices that prioritize the health of the soil, the environment, and our community. We focus on regenerative farming techniques, such as crop rotation, composting, and cover cropping, to enhance soil fertility and prevent erosion. By avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides, we protect local ecosystems, encourage biodiversity, and ensure that the food we grow is as natural and healthy as possible. Seed saving is a cornerstone of our work, preserving traditional and resilient varieties that are well-suited to our local environment while supporting seed sovereignty for future generations.

We also place a strong emphasis on community collaboration and education. Members actively participate in the farm’s activities, from planting and harvesting to learning about sustainable farming methods through workshops and events. This hands-on approach connects people to the food they eat and fosters a sense of collective responsibility for the land. Through the Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, we ensure that the benefits of our work are shared equitably, providing fresh, organic produce while offering a sustainable livelihood for those involved in its production. Every practice we adopt reflects our commitment to nurturing both the earth and the community it sustains.
