Brazil

Breve descrição do seu lugar e práticas

The Living Laboratory for Education, Research, and Experiential Learning is a dynamic hub under the NEPEAS (Center for Studies, Research, and Extension in Agroecology and Sustainability) at the UnB Planaltina Faculty - University of Brasília. This space serves as a hands-on environment where theoretical knowledge is integrated with practical applications in agroecology, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable practices. By promoting a collaborative approach, the laboratory brings together students, researchers, farmers, and community members to address pressing challenges in sustainable agriculture.

The Living Laboratory emphasizes cutting-edge research in agroecological practices, focusing on sustainable land use, biodiversity conservation, and resilient food systems. Through participatory research methods, it evaluates and develops innovative solutions tailored to local contexts, bridging academic inquiry with practical implementation. This approach not only strengthens the scientific basis of agroecology but also empowers farmers and communities with evidence-based tools to enhance productivity while preserving the environment.

Moreover, the laboratory serves as a vibrant space for experiential learning and extension activities. It hosts workshops, field trials, and collaborative projects that promote agroecological knowledge exchange among stakeholders. These activities aim to disseminate sustainable practices, such as crop diversification, agroforestry, and soil regeneration, while reinforcing the principles of community-driven research. By fostering an inclusive and participatory model, the Living Laboratory contributes to the global movement toward sustainable agriculture and social equity.

Detalhes do sistema agrícola

The Living Laboratory’s primary goal is to serve as a beacon of innovation and transformation in agroecology, bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in sustainable agriculture. It aspires to create a fertile ground for experimentation and co-creation of knowledge, where students, researchers, and local communities collaborate to design solutions that address the ecological, social, and economic challenges of agriculture. By promoting holistic and participatory approaches, the laboratory seeks to strengthen agroecological networks, encourage biodiversity conservation, and contribute to the resilience of rural and urban food systems.

Qual é o seu sonho para o futuro da sua quinta e/ou da sua localização em geral?

Looking toward the future, the Living Laboratory envisions becoming a national and international reference in agroecological education and research. Its dream is to expand its reach by building partnerships with global agroecology movements, developing scalable models for sustainable practices, and inspiring new generations of agroecologists. Ultimately, the laboratory aims to empower communities to become active agents of change, fostering a world where agriculture harmonizes with nature and promotes equity, food sovereignty, and ecological balance.
